Fall Festival 2013

Every year Kitty Ward Elementary has a Fall Festival.  We purchase more tickets every year for the kids to play games (especially this year because Rylee is old enough to want to play games too).  We also purchased a pizza meal.  So it was the most expensive year, but the kiddos love it!

So here's the costume fashion show:

Rylee is a "scary" pumpkin!  She picked this costume over a monkey and bumble bee costume.  Adorable!

Jace is...a Dracula/pirate/scary bloody mouth guy!  He designed this costume all by himself!  Jace, you're awesome!

Talon is SHREDDER!!!!  If you don't know, Shredder is the meanest, baddest (is that a word?) bad guy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!  This costume was made by Mom (copied a You Tube video). It took more than a roll of duct tape, a trip to Centennial Wal Mart for purple fabric, and a trip to Good Will for 99 Cent gray t-shirts (on a Wednesday which is crazy busy because it's 50% off for seniors that day!).  The whole costume was a grand total of $8.00.

Here's some highlights of the night!

Rylee's First Hair Cut

Rylee's hair is super long!  You just can't tell because it springs right up. On this October day, yet another one of Rylee's baths ended up in tears because it hurts to comb her hair out even when it's loaded with conditioner.  Rylee's hair is adorable, but it's really fine and ends up in a rats nest easily.

So, I don't like to hear her cry.  I asked if she wanted a hair cut.  She said yes, and here's the pics. I cut no more than a couple of inches off that small part of her hair I have straightened out on  her back.  I chickened out.  It's all I could make myself cut.

Rylee enjoyed her haircut though.  I am working on washing her hair every other day and combing it out with detangler on nonwash days.  It's an absolute must if we want to avoid the rats nest.  So far I've been diligent.  If we go just one day without detangling it really well, it's super hard to comb and I don't like seeing my little princess cry.

Her hair is super long- I promise!  It bounces up so much!  =)

Jace Makes Chocolate Pretzels

September 29, 2013

Future Chef...

Jace had a fabulous idea!

He wanted to make chocolate pretzels all by himself.

So mom melted the chocolate, but he did the rest.

The kids enjoyed a chocolate pretzel or two after lunch for the next few days.  ;-)

Talon's ST Math Award!

Talon was one of a few kids in his school to finish 100% of a program called ST Math.  The kids worked on ST Math during school, and some even did it at home.  Talon worked on it at home a lot.  We didn't know he would get an award for finishing, so we are very proud of him.

On September 11th Mom and Rylee went to see him get the award.  The assistant principal didn't have Talon listed, so when his name wasn't called in his class, we were a little worried.  Mrs. Evans came to the rescue and reminded the assistant principal and eventually they found his certificate.  He also received a giant pixie stick and had his picture taken with Jiji, the penguin from the ST Math games.  Talon will be on the ST Math Wall of Fame.  Yay, Talon!!!!
